What: Join us for an inspirational talk and demo on why eating plants is fun, easy, and extremely tasty! Presented by Chef Tanya Petrovna, owner of Chef Tanya’s Kitchen, previous owner/creator of Native Foods chain. June 14th at 4 pm in the Learning Center of the Main Library

About Chef Tanya: Chef Tanya has one mission: to make vegan food taste good! During college in the 1980s, Chef Tanya learned how to make seitan and fresh cultured tempeh. This created a vision to create a multi-restaurant concept serving vegan food. In the 1990’s Chef Tanya opened her first restaurant in Palm Springs called MT Plate. It’s the first all-vegetarian restaurant in the Coachella Valley showcasing house-made seitan and tempeh gourmet dishes. In 1994 her new concept, Native Foods, opened in Palm Springs serving her tempeh and seitan.  During 1996-2012 Chef Tanya opened her second Native Foods location in Palm Desert, followed by locations in Westwood, Costa Mesa and Aliso Viejo. Equity was raised and locations opened in So Cal, Portland, OR and Chicago, IL. Native Foods became the first national plant-based chain. In 2017 Chef Tanya’s Kitchen was born, starting as a manufacturing facility for tempeh and seitan, it expanded into a takeout deli and curated marketplace where the Cubano and Chupacabra made sandwich history. Chef Tanya’s Kitchen is located in Palm Springs at 706 S Eugene Rd, Palm Springs, CA 92264 and was inspired by her love for good food, nature and the animal kingdom.
